Zamalek could play without Benin striker Razak Omotoyossi when they meet Smouha away from home in the Egyptian league on the next Thursday.
The 25-year-old - who joined the zamalek club in the close season - was absent from training for three continuous days after travelling home to see his ill wife.
But according to Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Youssef, there was flight problems which delayed Razak’s return as he was supposed to arrive on Monday night.
“The player apologized to me on telephone for not reporting back to training on time,” Zamalek’s Coack Ismail Youssef Said.
“He was expected to be named in the squad for Smouha game, but due to his absence for a week of the trainings , he might not join the squad.”
“We’ll assess him when he comes back before making the final decision.”
Razak has only played just one game with Zamalek since he joined the club in the summer, featuring for over 70 minutes in the 3-1 win over Military Production.
He has been at the center of a contractual dispute with the club’s board, which saw him miss the team’s first two games against Ghazl Mahalla and Gaish.
With Mido and Hussein Hamdi injured and Omotoyossi doubtful, Zamalek coach Hassan Shehata could only have Amr Zaki and Ahmed Gaafar as the only fit and recognized strikers at his disposal.
